More Changes

Normally, I won’t be sending you another newsletter so soon after I just sent one but there are a few changes that I wanted to let you know about. A few more are in the works and I’ll let you know about those when they are ready.

No more multiple emails?

The first change some of you will notice is that you didn’t get several copies of this newsletter. In the past, those of you who monitor multiple sites were getting a copy for each station you monitored. That has been corrected now so you should only be getting one per email address now.

Color Changes

I think you will all agree the yellow color on a white background was impossible to read. The other colors didn’t really have any consistency either, so some changes will soon be made to the color scheme. The colors will be as follows:

0.00-T – Black
T-1.00 – Shades of Green
1.00-2.00 – Shades of Orange
2.00-5.00 – Shades of Red
5.00-15.00 – Shades of Purple
Greater than 15.00 – Violet

Greater than 15.00?

That brings us to the next change and the primary reason for writing. A new map feature to be added in the very near future will be the ability to see the weekly and monthly precipitation in addition to the daily precipitation you now see. You will be able to select any week or month and see what the total rainfall is for that period for all of the observation stations that have full report records. However, this does mean if any records for a station are missing during that display period, it will not show up on the map.

When this new feature is ready, you will find this line just above the precipitation map:

Daily Precip | Weekly Precip | Monthly Precip

Thanks again for volunteering for NeRAIN.
